DCUO: Dark Multiverse Card Notes

Image
The Arrow Rule: Each card has an attack side, denoted with arrows along the edges of the cards. Play a card adjacent to one of Batman Who Laughs' cards. If your card attacks a side with no arrows, then your card will defeat his. Superman = UP Wonder Woman = DOWN Batman = RIGHT Hawkgirl = UP, DOWN Nightwing = UP, RIGHT Robin = LEFT, DOWN The Hierarchy Rule: The cards have a  power order, like a hand of cards. When arrows from two cards meet, the strongest card will win. The order of strength is as follows: Superman Wonder Woman Batman Hawkgirl Nightwing Robin IMPORTANT:  The Arrow Rule supersedes the Hierarchy Rule! You will need to pick 3 cards to defeat The Batman Who Laugh's 4 cards in each hand. Because of this, it means at least 1 of the two-direction cards (Hawkgirl, Nightwing, Robin) will be used each time. Associated Feats Aced It [Any Version]: Complete are hands without failing (* event only has 1 hand). Murder of Robins [Normal

DCUO: Combat Rating Math

Image
Many of us have become dependent on the Odyssey Combat Rating Calculator , which was the most complete one on the Internet, featuring detailed gear breakdown, attuning as well as being able to pull your character's current breakdown from the census. But recently their account on Enjin expired and renewal doesn't seem to be on the way. There is an alternative  by DCUO Bloguide , which does almost the same thing...but it is missing the gear attuning calculations. The main point of this article is that no player created application has guaranteed uptime as people come and go all the time. So I wanted to breakdown how CR works and how you can come up with the right numbers in the case that all of these web apps expire. Combat Rating Breakdown Each gear piece has a percent modifier that gets applied to its item level. They are as follows: Weapon = 12% Head = 11% Neck = 6% Back = 8% Chest = 12% Legs = 12% Ring 1 = 6% Trinket = 6% [Note: this takes the highest trinke

DCUO: Bronze Metal Chroma

Image
Out of the Metal Chromas that were introduced with the Dark Knights Time Capsules, the Bronze seems to be the least in demand. It at least shares the lower tier in the broker (USPC/PS) with Purple & Green. It is still however pretty great looking. With it being the cheapest at the moment (9/2/2019, 18:50), it turns out most of my recent posts feature it. So I wanted to aggregate everything in one place. Converting a Champion Bronze Material Style to Bronze Metal Chroma Bronze Dragonarmor on Longfist Serpent Guard Conversion [left] Serpent Guard Armor on Teal'c (inspired by Stargate SG-1 ) This example was a straightforward conversion of a non-material style into a metal chroma. The Cybernetic base armor (chest & legs) just worked without having to adjust the styles out. The new chroma material by far outshines the metallic armor colored the traditional way. Testing it Outside of the Green/Bronze Palette Bronze Dragonarmor Fire Test on Alyssa C

DCUO: Precautions for Weapon Pass

Image
There will be an effort to balance weapons so there's less difference between the various types as well as bring them up-to-par with might/powers. Full details can be found here: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/development-update-weapons-and-artifacts.303564/ One of the major changes will be the the Venom Wrist Dispenser (VWD). Players who have a Venom Wrist Dispenser at or above rank 80 will automatically have their artifact boosted to a higher rank. If your Venom Wrist Dispenser is between rank 80 and 100, it will be boosted to rank 120. If your Venom Wrist Dispenser is between rank 101 and 140, it will be boosted to rank 160. If your Venom Wrist Dispenser is between rank 141 and 160, it will be boosted to rank 200 (maximum rank). You will want your VWD to be above 80 if you're using it. If partially leveled, ideal points would be 81, 101 & 141 as you will gain the most from the free boost when this update goes live. DO NOT leve

SDCC Metal Announcement

Image
The rest of 2019 will be closed out with 2 episodes featuring the Metal story arc! It's a bit of a curveball because it's very recent in DC Comics history where other content was mostly classic and established. But Metal was something that really picked up steam and popularity quickly, going beyond comics right away into statues and toys... and now video games! In this video, we'll take a look at the little we know and break down what we can before it hits Test in August. Throwback Thursday: Summer 2014

Image
Rewinding back to the USPC Summer Party on June 29, 2014 (upload date). Let's take a look back at this #ThrowbackThursday and see if we recognize any names & leagues. Who was there back then and are they still there now? Are you in here somewhere?  All information about the party can still be found on this old Forum thread:  https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/uspc-dcuo-social-club-summer-kick-off-party.207152/ Here is also the matching FNL episode from Daybreak although they cut out the preshow that covered the party.

Chromas: Use or Sell

Image
The toughest thing about super rare items from a marketplace purchase, namely Booster Bundles is there will always be a conflict of use for your character or sell. At the time of this article, the current rare is the Chroma Reward Box that was at $270m on the first week and ended around $400m+. Selling just one of those can fill in many other progession-based aspects of the game! The dilemma for a creative player is that it might be just right for a certain character. Fortunately I consumed one on my main already, so I had something to play with, but I had rolled another box and wasn't sure if it would work on an alt. I spend an hour thinking about it and testing on my main. The blue suit on the left is the regular style (Anna Zirski from Phastasy Star II ). In my head, I thought the blue chroma would be perfect... chrome breastplates & some combination of the blue & dark blue underneath. However, none of the three combinations in the package do this for the Fourth W

Justice League Dark: The Con Job!

Image
This is what went through my head during the first cutscene from the Shattered Gotham raid! But joking aside, I like how many of the player styles were incorporated into the NPCs in a practical way that goes along with the story. Here we see Constantine wearing the Glorious Aura from the resurgence time capsules. Also in the Justice League Dark episode, you can see minor NPCs with some of the new accessories and pulsing aura that drops in current content.

Update 94: Doomsday & Quarks

Checking out a couple more Update 94 changes... well, this is probably more about the Doomsday content and what didn't update! How do you guys feel about this dropping out of relevancy? Have you been running this content for extra MoV/SM (depending on time)?

Alyssa Goldenblade: Dragonarmor

Image
Dragonarmor is the suit worn by Dragon Highlords from the realm of Krynn ( Dragonlance by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman ). The Highlords are dragon riders, so the armor needed to be protective, mobile and withstand the high altitudes. If you search for it across the web, you will most likely get images of the famous Kitiara Uth Matar, who sports the standard issue. Left to Right: Tasslehoff Burrfoot, Lauralanthalasa; Kitiara Uth Matar; Khellendros (Skie) in the back The DCUO did their livestream featuring their Etrigan inspired set that came with the Justice League Dark Episode, they actually used the black, gold & blue combination and it looked pretty close to Dragonarmor. So I knew I had to attempt it as soon as I could get the parts! Head: Ancient Amazon Noble This is just Alyssa's standard go-to head style. For the actual Dragonarmor look, Viking combined with a ventilator for the face would be pretty close. [from Amazon Fury II raid drop or rare styles ven

Aleena Goldenblade: Sentinel of Magic

Image
It's always fun to dress for the episode. Since Aleena moved from Event Atlantis to JLD, I had armory space to create a matching outfit on her. So I went with Sentinels of Magic. Side by Side with NPC Head: Ancient Amazon Noble The closest style to the actual uniform is Greco-Roman, but it can't be colored the same way because the player style is metallic & the NPC is more plastic. But when I dress my characters, I want them to still look like themselves, so I don't want to cover up the head. The twins usually wear one of the Wonder Woman tiaras. In this case, I favored Ancient Amazon Noble because it has a solid base color with metallic studs. [from Amazon Fury II  Raids or Rare Style Vendor] Back: Themyscrian Battlesuit The Sentinels don't have a back style, so I just chose one of my favorite weapon backs. [from Amazon Fury II vendor (hero)] Chest: Enhanced Drowned I normally match the chest & leg slots, but Drowned is a special piece that actua

Justice League Dark: Van Helsing Lamp

Image
The Van Helsing Lamp is an item that acts like a mini artifact and works in the same way as the Halloween Trick-or-Treat bucket. You rank it up quickly with essences that drop from Justice League Dark. There are 4 levels at 250xp, 500xp, 750xp & 1,000xp for a total of 2,500xp (or 10 essences). You get the lamp during the alert portion of the pointer mission (or possible the first time you run the alert as well). After you defeat Etrigan and "get to the choppa," Steve Trevor gives you the lamp and you get a feat for it as well! TIP: You'll want to pay attention to your Van Helsing lamp's XP & not overshoot it. Split reagents accordingly to maximize breakthrough. Once the lamp is filled up, you can use it to produce a bunch of random consumable flames. It will also give you another empty lamp to cycle through again. The possible consumables include: Radiant - Stuns adds; This one comes in handy for the 2 optional rooms that are packed with adds + a mi

Justice League Dark: Laser Tag

Image
Laser Tag is a feat in the new JLD: Darkness Rising alert where the team needs to make it through several laser barriers that are constantly turning on and off. It can be hard to control where to stop when moving forward from laser to laser, but this method will negate the distance timing completely and allow you to get through 100% of the time. In this simulator I setup in the league hall, the rope barriers represent the lasers. The pub dividers are the walls. The monitors ahead are for timing purposes.  1) Move up close to the first laser barrier (represented by the rope barriers in the simulator). The images are using the right side, but you can use the left if that angle is more comfortable for you. You're going to angle the camera slightly facing the corner. The basis of this method is that the corner where the laser emitted meets the wall is completely safe to ram into. 2) The moment the image changes on the monitors ahead (this represents the laser turnin

Update 94: Source Marks

Update 94: Mentor & Player Skins

Image
Game Update 94 is packed with more features than just the expected annual Spring Event. In this video, we're just taking an in-depth look at the human skins that can be applied to our characters as well as updated mentors. The above screenshot features the retextured Batman (but still featuring the Jim Lee proportioned model); Updated Human Skin on Alyssa; and completely remodeled Wonder Woman inspired by Nicola Scott's style.

Justice League Dark: Chaos Gotham LIVE!

Image
It's pretty interesting how different a reused zone can be when the starting point is different. It was a good part of Gotham to use as well because we don't often visit that central part of Gotham other than leveling. The efficiency of the daily missions are comparable to Titans & Atlantis, so no complaints there. The majority flow smoothly with only the Possessed Magents (though Possessed Sentinels is OK) being a slight bottleneck. The ARGUS weekly collection is pretty fair. I was afraid of spawn rate against live traffic back when it was on test, but it's totally fine after going up. You do end up getting a lot between missions and it completes naturally without additional effort. The only thing i would change about open world is the scaling of the bounties. I think the Pod Daemon should have been the 8-man because it has less mechanics. The Daemon Lord, because of the color/power options is going to get run more with coordinated groups, so it would have bee

Alyssa Goldenblade: Red Phoenix

Image
Alyssa is the "phoenix" counterpart to Shadowdragon's "dragon," so a lot of her styles will take on firebird characteristics... mostly with fire motifs. Outside of DCUO , I usually depict Alyssa with blue fire, but in game, the fire power gets red special fx, so I often end up color matching her armor. Head: Celtic Crown This is a lightweight glowing crown to go with the red special fx. The Celtic Crown without a material applied already looks like it has a material. In this case, I applied the red phoenix material just so it can be matched exactly to the back, shoulders & hands. [from Spring Seasonal Vendor] Back: Ancient Divine Sorceress This Circe inspired cape was one of the styles I was waiting for with unlocks as it's only on the villain side. It's actually a popular style that encouraged enough heroes to go over and play a villain up to Amazon Fury II just to bring it cross-faction. It has an avian look while remaining a cape, whi

Speeding Up Seasonal Collection Drops

Image
Even though the newer seasonal collections seem to drop at a somewhat even rate (as in no super rares) since going to the format of buying the final from the vendor, there may be some that still come across bad RNG. Atlantis: All the King's Mermen

Image
This feat is at the final battle of the raid, Atlantis: The Throne and it entails taking out the following adds before killing off Corum Rath: - 13 Flames of Sagittarrius - 32 Brine - 23 Drift / Silent School - 5 Barnicle Golems - 4 Morgwars While the list is daunting, it's really not as bad as it seems because many of the counts will come automatically while trying to get others and they come out during specific points in the battle. The Team Because this is a long winded feat (be sure to carve out about 2 hours to form, prep & execute), endurance is far more important than damage. You don't want to get 70% done with the counters and then wipe only to have to do it over! We had 2 tanks to separate the various add types & distract the boss. 2 healers to be completely safe with health levels. With 2 healers there really is no danger of a wipe. 1 controller is good for this as Corum Rath is the only real boss figure & the tank on the flames/morgwar is doing

Alyssa Goldenblade: Kryptonite Batgirl

Image
The following armor was made with Injustice 2 in mind, where all of the characters were geared up to fight Superman. While Cassandra Cain (Batgirl/Orphan) was not in the game, I wanted to take her traditional outfit from Batman: No Man's Land and armor it up like the black, gray & green Batsuit from Injustice 2. Head: Dark Knight Cowl or Gotham Knight Dark knight cowl is pretty much the only choice I go with for most Batman inspired looks. Alternatively, as pictured, Gotham Knight (Nightwing) is used when the cowl is off for a more movie-like Batgirl look ( Batman Forever, 1995 ). [Dark Knight Cowl = Marketplace; Gotham Knight = Promethium Lockbox] Face: Split Personality or Emissive Eyes The Cassandra Cain fully covered head can only truly be achieved on female characters with Split Personality (male style is compeltely different). The female style is a half ninja mask that covers the bottom half of the face perfectly. It must be set to all black though as the 2 sid

Atlantis: March 2019 Vendor Additions

Image
Vendor additions made their debut in Deluge when Daybreak would release new style items to jump traffic to the current DLC. The pattern they seemed to have settled on is 2 released, which we first saw in Teen Titans and now Atlantis. I would expect this going forward as well. The first round for Atlantis included the constricting eels accessory, golden age material and King of Atlantis style items (Aquaman's gloves, boots & belt). The March 2019 items will be covered below along with how I used them: Ocean Master Helmet (Prince of Atlantis) This is the head style from the updated Ocean Master costume (influenced by the Aquaman movie). Of the items in this release, this is the iconic, hence the one with the feat attached. While I don't have a character that really works with the style, I just placed it on my Red Lantern for when I use him in Atlantis content. Supporting styles include the Drift back with Aqualad shoulders as hard light constructs. Drift Backpack
